Pret A Manger Requires Employees To Act Happy All The Time

  1. I've worked in restaurant & retail 90 % of my life (I'm middle-aged) and I have to say that this "act happy" attitude (or else) isn't all that unusual or considered creepy by the employees. What it all boils down to is this, shoppers want a friendly, positive sales-clerk and dinners want the same in a member of a fast food joint's wait-staff. They don't care or need to know about your bad day and mystery shoppers have been around for ages...this is nothing new. When I saw the title of the article on AOL stating that "Fast Food Chain Has 'Creepy' Rules" I wondered what in the world the management required them to do... Hug each customer ? Kiss each customer on the cheek ? Tell each customer that they had pretty eyes ? But act happy ? That's a well...duh huh moment. Of Course the management wants them to act happy & positive, isn't that a given when you work with the public ?

  2. We agree. Who wants to go into restaurant, or for that matter any other business, where the employees look unhappy.

The purpose of this site is to match songs with news stories. We try to add a humorous twist on the stories by applying the songs to the stories.
